cosmic connections – 2025

In January of 2025, Rowan Buffington and Matt Greenwell were invited to exhibit in Stove Works’ annual Red Dot exhibition, curated by Josiah Golson, Chattanooga TN.


stove works artists residency – 2024

In September of 2024, Rowan Buffington and Matt Greenwell were invited to Stove Works in Chattanooga, TN for a four week intensive residency. Exploring a mixture of cut and paste collage, digital collage, and performance, the Stove Works residency led to the development of a new body of work based on the reign of Louis XIV—the Sun King, the palace and gardens of Versailles, and manifestations of the Age of Enlightenment.


klee-tomania – 2024

In April of 2024, Rowan Buffington and Matt Greenwell produced and staged multiple performances of Klee-tomania, a 30 minute multi-media performance consisting of live mixed sound recordings, historical video and film footage, and numerous overlapped projections distributed across multiple screens. The setting for the performance was at the site of the historic Black Mountain College in Black Mountain, NC as a part of the 2024 {Re}Happenings program coordinated by the Asheville based Black Mountain College Museum and Art Center.


just in (out of your mouth) – 2024

In January of 2024, Rowan Buffington and Matt Greenwell created a fully immersive collage at Nashville’s COOP Gallery. In April 2023, Tennessee Republicans expelled two black Democratic lawmakers from the state Legislature for their role in a protest calling for gun control in the aftermath of a deadly school shooting in Nashville, TN. Just In (Out of your Mouth) was motivated in part by this extraordinary act of political retaliation and racism.

In the spring of 2023, Rowan Buffington and Matt Greenwell began “ponting”—seeking purchase below the surface.

Beginning in the summer of 2022, these cut-and-paste postcards are generated while traveling with portable tools and a combination of found and archived material.
